Epilogue

So that’s basically it. She’s out there somewhere, probably celebrating a triumphant return, not only telling the tales of her success, but of the pleasure she found here. The gifts she gave me were necessary. After the experience she had given me, a normal life would have been empty and pointless. I’ll admit, I wouldn’t have been strong enough to survive without them.

“She’s pretty.” AJ said, referencing the cute girl at the drive-thru window as we headed out of town, having abandoned everything we both knew.

“I agree.” I said, watching her collect our order through the glass. “Let’s see what she thinks about us.”

AJ cuddled in closer, likely to never let me go.
